Here’s How You Can Naturally Clean Your Mattresses

Your mattresses play an important role in your sleeping activity. In fact, there are some people who actually can’t sleep without the mattress they have been accustomed to use. For this matter, it is important that you always maintain the cleanliness of your mattresses in order to avoid inconveniences and disturbances during the night.

When cleaning your mattresses, the usual process revolves around the use of various chemicals. While this may be a good method for effectively cleaning the mattress, when it comes to your own body, chemicals may have an effect on you. But know that you don’t always have to use chemicals to clean your mattress. In fact, there are natural ways for you to do this. Here’s how.

CLEANING YOUR MATTRESSES

You can begin by removing all of the beddings in your mattress. Toss them in the washing machine and let them stay there while you continue cleaning. Afterwards, you can begin vacuuming your mattress, beginning at the top, to the sides and even underneath. Do not forget to vacuum the space between the mattress and the box springs.

Put a mixture of lavender oil and baking soda in a strainer. Then spread the fragranced baking soda evenly on the mattress spread. Allow to stay there until the bedding is finished washing and drying. Lastly, you have to vacuum the baking soda off the mattress and then put the bedding back in place.

URINE & SWEAT

Sweat and urine both produces yellowish stains and to remove this, you can start by stripping the entire bed and then mixing a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), three tablespoons of baking soda, and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. After that, you stir the mixture until the soda is dissolved and then pour all of it in a spray bottle.

You have to spray the mixture on all of the affected areas on the mattress and then let the solution sink and dry. Let it dry for at least an hour.

BLOOD & VOMIT

Blood can be removed by spraying 3% H2O2 on the stain and then blotting it with a clean towel. Repeat this until the stain disappears.

Vomit, however, would need a mixture of water and white vinegar. Repeat the same process and then sprinkle baking soda on the mattress Perth.
