The organizers of the Thailand Yacht Show recently announced that they’ve changed when the Thailand Yacht Show is to be held, now in 2018. The show will be returning to Phuket’s Ao Po Grand Marina on the 22-25 of February, whilst the Thailand Yachting Forum (TYF) will be held on the 21st of the same month. According to the organizers, this is good news for the yacht rental in Phuket scene, as the Chinese New Year will maximize the number of participants in the event.
Originally, the third TYS was supposed to happen at the Ao Po Grand Marina around Christmas, on the 14th to the 17th of 2017.
3L Events CEO Andy Treadwell, who are responsible for organizing the Thailand Yacht Show, had a meeting a while back with several of the Thai governments’ departments involved with the Superyacht Charter Licence Project, as well as the Thailand Yacht Show itself, and stated that the meeting went positively. According to Mr. Treadwell, everyone involved in the meeting agreed that the Phuket boat charter market and all of Thailand stands to gain a lot from the Thailand Yacht Show open to foreign superyachts.
He says that a lot of yacht owners and captains will take interest in spending winter in Thailand’s docks should the country allows it. Once the changes are given official approval, he says that other ASEAN countries will follow suit, and that yachts everywhere will then have new options for wintering to consider.
It was during a meeting later down the road with Thailand Authority of Tourism and Tourism and Sports Minister KobkarmWattanavrangkul that the revised dates were given the final approval for the Thailand Yacht Show. Thus, they have conceived in order to bring attention to the government’s project for charter licence project, as well as the Thai government’s efforts to market Thailand as one of Asia’s big yachting hub.
According to the press release for the meeting, the Thai government has come up with abrand new tourism plan for marine tourism, with a focus on luxury tourism, a part of the Thai government’s Tourism Master Plan for 2021, and that the Thailand Yacht Show is to act as the primary means of marketing this new plan.
